Hakan GokalpHead of Secondary
Mr Gokalp is a former physics teacher who has held Head positions at two schools in Bangladesh. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Suleyman Demirel University. His hobbies include reading and football.
Mustafa GezenAcademic Coordinator
Mr Gezen holds two bachelor degrees in English Language and International Relations, a Master's Degree in Linguistics as well as Albanian National Teaching Qualification and CELTA. He is a qualified Google Educator and is currently gaining his DELTA Diploma from Cambridge University. When he is not teaching, Mustafa enjoys reading books, exploring the Albanian countryside, camping and diving.
Alesha EvansGeography Teacher
Ms Evans gained a BA in Political Science and Social Studies from Western Washington University in 2004. She later completed her Secondary Teaching Certificate in Social Studies at the same university. In 2009 she completed an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the School for International Training. Alesha has been teaching since 2007, and has taught English and humanities at international schools in Morocco, Tanzania, and Italy. Her hobbies include traveling, hiking, photography, and finding beach glass.
Anisa SauliESL Teacher
Ms Sauli is an experienced ESL teacher who has worked at language centres across Albania. She holds a Master’s of Science in Translation and Interpretation from the University of Tirana as well as a bachelor degree in English from the University of Korca. Her interests include reading and travelling.
Blerta MetaArt Teacher
Ms Meta holds an MA in Visual Arts from The Academy of Arts, Tirana. She has been working as an art teacher at MIST since 2012. Blerta is an active artist who has taught classes at Epoka University and regularly holds her own exhibitions, as well as acting as curator for other artists in her field. Her hobbies include traveling, hiking, cooking, swimming, yoga and meditation.
Brett RussellScience Teacher
Mr Russell started his teaching career in America before coming to Albania to teach middle school science at MIST in 2017. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Science, Exercise and Sports Science, and Special Education from Texas State University. His interests include camping, fishing, cooking and spending time at the beach.
Elda RakoMusic Teacher
Ms Rako is a former music lecturer who has been teaching at MIST since 2015. She holds both a bachelor’s degree in Musicology and a Master of Science in Music History from the University of Arts, Tirana. Elda’s hobbies include reading and playing badminton.
Fionnuala DohertyHistory Teacher
Ms Doherty is from the beautiful town of Westport in county Mayo, Ireland. After graduating with a Masters in International Relations, Fionnuala began teaching History, Geography and English in her local all girls convent. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and has gained many years experience teaching internationally. Her hobbies include travelling and Irish dancing, as well as sharing her Irish culture with her students.
Hacer Erim YozgatliMathematics Teacher
Ms Yozgatli completed Mathematical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. A highly experienced maths teacher, she has worked in schools and colleges across Tirana for over 18 years.
Irda DervishiAlbanian Language Teacher
Ms Dervishi is currently completing her PHD and has attended many conferences on Albanian language development, as well as publishing articles on language research. She holds a Master’s in Historical language from the University of Tirana. A former lecturer, Irda has been teaching secondary Albanian language at MIST since 2016. Her hobbies include swimming, reading, walking.
Jonida BalliuEconomics Teacher
Ms Balliu holds a master’s degree in Banking and Finance from Epoka University. She currently teaches economics in high school, and has formerly worked as an economist and finance specialist in the private sector.
Juliette HendersonEnglish Teacher
Mrs Henderson holds Qualified Teacher Learner Status (QTLS) in the UK. She has a TEFL qualification as well as an MA in Professional Education and Training from the University College London, Institute of Education. Juliette has been teaching English at MIST since 2016.
Kirby KruegerMathematics Teacher
Ms Krueger is an experienced maths teacher from the US, having taught both algebra and geometry to high school students in America since 2011. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Texas A&M University. Her hobbies are reading, playing volleyball, and hiking.
Klaudia PiroliBiology Teacher
Ms Piroli holds both a Bachelor in Biology and a Master in Science from Tirana University, having qualified in the top percentile of her class. She is committed to further training, and has completed Cambridge certification in teaching both A level and IGCSE Biology. Klaudia has presented and acted as keynote speaker at two CLIL conferences. She speaks Italian and English, and her main hobby is reading.
Klodiana KasoFrench Teacher
Ms Kaso qualified from the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Tirana. She underwent subsequent training in Rochefort, France, where she studied Teaching Methodology for the French Language; later becoming an examiner for the TEF exam in Alliance Française de Tirana. Klodiana has been teaching French since 1995 and has over ten years experience at MIST. Her hobbies include travelling,swimming and music.
Taulant KaçkiniPhysics Teacher
Mr Kaçkini has been teaching physics since 2012. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the Middle East technical University, as well as further Cambridge certification in teaching A level and IGCSE Physics.
Mustafa YerlikayaChemistry Teacher
Mr Yerlikaya has been a chemistry teacher for almost twenty years and has taught at various schools across Tirana. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Education from the Middle East Technical University. His interests include travelling, cooking, and football.
Nurisa XheliliAlbanian Language Teacher
Ms Xhelili holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Language and Literature from the University of Tirana. Her hobbies include reading, writing, and acting.
Rexhina DervishiICT Teacher
Ms Dervishi holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Computer Engineering, which she gained from Epoka University. She has worked as a secondary ICT teacher now for almost three years. Rexhina’s hobbies include photo editing and web design.
Richard EdenEnglish Teacher
Mr Eden holds a BA in South-East Asian Studies Development and Thai Language from the University of Hull. He also holds a TESOL certificate from Trinity College London, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Sunderland. Richard has been teaching English in international schools since 2001. He is also an enthusiastic rock climber.
Roza PaliAlbanian Language Teacher
Ms Pali has over twenty years experience as a secondary Albanian teacher, working in both Greece and Albania. She holds a master’s degree in Albanian from “Eqerem Çabej” University of Gjirokastra. Her hobbies include traveling, community and volunteer work, writing and walking.
Robert CookEnglish Teacher
Prior to teaching at MIST, Mr Cook taught English language and literature for two years at an American high school in Lezhe. He also worked for two years as lecturer at Beder University Tirana, teaching English and Communication Studies. Mr Cook transitioned into full time teaching after working in the development sector in Northern Albania, during which time he also worked as a private language teacher, as well as an independent contractor translating and editing reports for International Non-government Organisations. He graduated with first class honours from the University of Durham (a world top 100 university) and also won a UK national top prize award (for highest grade in UK for The Cambridge Examination Board) when studying for his A-levels. His main interest is spending as much time as possible enjoying life with his wife and 3 young children. He also enjoys climbing mountains, walking, playing the piano and reading decent books.
